FAQ

With minimal pressure, use the included sharpener’s grey ceramic sticks first (marked with a “C” for coarse). Use a back-and-forth motion on one blade getting up inside the curve for about 30 seconds, then switch to the other blade and repeat. Next, use the white ceramic sticks (marked with an “F” for fine). Repeat the same back-and-forth motion again using minimal pressure for 30 seconds on each blade.

Simply use a hard object to tap it off. For example, the back side of another knife, etc.

Once a year or after the hunting season, use a damp cloth to clean the leather. Let the leather dry and open the pores by placing it in a window sill in the sunlight for about 15 minutes. I recommend using Neatsfoot oil, but mink oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil can be used as well. Dip your finger in the oil and rub it into the sheath. Apply a couple coats on all exposed leather and seams.

Use an unscented or scent elimination soap, warm water, and a soft brush. Allow to completely air dry before storing your knife inside.

First of all, if the metal has carbon in it, it will rust if not properly maintained including stainless steel. Clean any exposed metal with warm water and a soft cloth. Use a dry cloth to remove any excess water. Next, apply a thin layer of mineral oil to all exposed metal. Mineral oil is best used for knives that will be cutting meat that you want to serve on the dinner table!

Your FieldTorq Super Tool keeps an edge better than any other knife (no joke, you’ll see) but touching up the edge is recommended every 5 or 6 animals to keep that razor sharpness, especially if elk or hogs are your thing. It’s also personal preference. Some don’t sharpen it for 20 animals or more!

Expose the bone by cutting through the meat. For the pelvic bone you’ll want to expose the pelvic “ridgeline” that runs down the center of the pelvis. Put the Torq Assist (orange tip protector) on the longer blade. Insert the shorter blade under the bone at the top of it next to the gut. Align the concave feature on the Torq Assist over the pelvic ridgeline to stabilize the blade. Pull the handle up like working a can-opener to cut the bone. Positioning yourself at the tail end and pull the handle towards you like a lever repeatedly works best.
